Booking a trip

I usually plan vacation thru travel agency, but this time I am planning on my own. Is it better to use vacation packages from Expedia, Priceline, etc or book room thru hotel?

Booking a trip

I find it better to book through the hotel itself. Almost all of the time (not all of the time) if you book through the hotel, and the price goes down, you can call them and they will readjust the price. But, be careful...no matter how you book...READ the fine print before you accept anything. Then you definitely know what you are getting.

It really depends on airfare prices. I used to always recommend booking separately because hotel rates change so much that it%26#39;s better to book directly with the hotel so that you can cancel or adjust the rate ot take advanatge of any specials that come up but sometimes airfare out of certain cities is so outrageous that many people find that booking a package with hotel/airfare is actually cheaper than booking airfare alone. If that is the case then it would better to go with the package. I have found that the best deals for me come from places like American Airlines Vacations or US Airways Vacations. I prefer not to be locked into a hotel, however, so I like to book separately unless it%26#39;s a last minute thing and I%26#39;m booking close to the trip. I think it%26#39;s best to narrow down your hotels and then compare prices from all the major package sites, then compare it to prices of booking separately. If the prices are close then book seaparately and check back to see if your hotel rate comes down. Only book a package if you are certain that you will not change your mind about the hotel and that the savings is such that it is highly unlikely that the hotel rate will come down enough to make up the difference if you booked separately (I always check other dates that are coming up to see how far down the rates might come down.)It might require a lot of internet research but could save you hundreds of dollars in the end.

check out www.smartervegas.com for hotel deals and promos.

but as the others have said, do your research, it might save you to book seperately depending on which city you leave from. We have just had luck with this website, it is the same as usairways vacations.

Look around to see what will work best for you. I booked through expedia a month before we left to stay at the MGM. Expedia had amazing deals on a lot of the vegas hotels. The package we chose I believe was at least $500 bucks off the normal price for two people.

When we arrived at the MGM, they then upgraded us to their 5 star Signature Hotel!

So it%26#39;s not always better to book separate flights and hotels. If we had done that, we probably would have gotten the great sale and the free upgrade!
