Golden Nugget VIP checkin -- is it worth it? Recent stays.

I know there are other threads on the subject but i would like to know lately is it worth it. What do you get. If you have it can you still try to get a free upgrade when checking in maybe with the 20 (so called) trick. Flying Southwest-- by having the vip will this help me in any way getting my seats the nite before going home? (meaning will they help me in contacting airlines or get me on a computer to do it) Do they give out the coupon book at this checkin desk? Any information would be appreciated. Going in May with son his 21st birthday.

Golden Nugget VIP checkin -- is it worth it? Recent stays.

When I booked, the guy on the phone told me that VIP check in had it%26#39;s own special check in area (quicker line) and that by paying for it, you were guaranteed your room preferences. (other than that, I don%26#39;t know)

I don%26#39;t care about checking in separate from everyone else; and as he told me, since I%26#39;m getting a room with 2 queen beds, and there are more of them, I would most likely get my preferences anyway.

I%26#39;ve been a member of VIP services @ the Nugget for about 3 years now. It lets you accumulate points for free stays [if you%26#39;re a frequent visitor it is a good deal]. Sometimes they have double and triple point stays.

The VIP check in area is actually a room off to the side of the registration area and is so convenient if there are long lines at check-in. No waiting, getting the room you want, etc. Hope this helps!

I think GN%26#39;s VIP check in is worth it but when I had called to sign up one time, I was told VIP check in on our check in date was sold out... and this surprised me.

Ironic, I think the OP is just asking about the ';VIP Check In'; that the GN offers for $20 extra at booking.

And yes, they guy on the phone told me that they only offer a certain number of them a night. I asked if I didn%26#39;t purchase it at that time, could I call back later if I changed my mind and he said yes, as long as there were some available.

The VIP is a small area off the lobby. In there is a check in desk which does speed up your registration process. Supposedly, it does ';guarantee'; your preferences. They also have a refrigerator, which has water and fruit that you can access throughout your stay.

I do know some one whose roon was not what they requested and they switched it out immediately. But then so does the front desk too.

We use to stay at the GN every trip but stopped going a few years ago. I wish they had the VIP check in back when we were staying there because they did not guarantee room type or tower. We always booked the north tower to be close to the casino and often there were no north tower rooms left and we had to go to the south tower. They would offer to change us the next day when one became available but that is such a pain because you can not unpack and get settled knowing you have to move the next day. Also the last time we stayed at the GN they were under new management and the regular check in was a LONG LONG wait. Only one person checking in a huge line up. $20.00 is a great price for fast check in and guarantee of room type and building. The south towere is a long walk to the casino and the other downtown action (unless you are young). Hope this helps

Thanks for all your help.
