Las Vegas in March '09 with small child - hotel?

Hello! I know that this topic has been discussed over years but I%26#39;d like to have recent information.

I%26#39;m in Vegas for a conference in the end of March for a week. I%26#39;ll bring my wife and 2 years old child with me. Any suggestions for a family %26amp; child friendly hotel?

Try the MGM. If you can afford more than MGM, try Palazzo or Venetian if you want something a little nicer. Check the hotel websites for specials and/or promotions. Also check www.smartervegas.com for promotional codes for the various hotels in Vegas.

I%26#39;d consider staying in a ';normal'; hotel, rather than a many-thousand room casino-resort. The Holiday Inn Express (South) is great. East to get in and out of, free breakfast, convenient location etc.

For a %26#39;normal%26#39; place to stay aka non gambling facility, you might want to consider the Platinum. I also forgot about the Signature at MGM, you%26#39;d have kitchen facilities which would be good with a small child.

Where is the conference being held? It might be easier to suggest places near the venue.

I would have to concur with the other posters. If I were staying in LV for business, I would want a little more quiet, sane environment than the Strip resorts. Like an embassy suites, courtyard marriott, etc.

It is in a hotel called Riviera - near Circus Circus, etc. However, I don%26#39;t mind to take taxi back and forth daily.

with a kid, i would plan to rent a car. it will give your wife and child some more freedom to go out and do more family friendly things around town. parking is easy and free at all the hotels (a couple dollars for a tip if you valet) and it will probably save you money over multiple taxi trips a day. you can also use a car seat for the kid (bring your own or rent from the car company).

i would also recommend staying somewhere off-strip like a marriott that would be completely non-smoking and wouldn%26#39;t have a casino and wouldn%26#39;t charge extra for the child.

In terms of saneness, quietness, etc. Riviera not too bad. Not much action in there these days so might be ok to stay there. Courtyard, Embassy Suites, etc would probably be nicer but I believe I read on one of the posts that some of the Riviera rooms had been remodeled.

Have a great trip.

There are Hilton Timeshare properties that are close to the Riviera. If you plan on being there a week, you may be able to get a nice one or two bedroom villa with kitchen, washer/dryer, kids club, etc,, for cheaper than a normal room without all those amenities. Owners of the timeshares are trying to rent these out all the time. Try searching the internet or you can contact me via TA.

what type of property do you want? A 2 yo will be fine anywhere since they will be supervised at all times, won%26#39;t be hanging out at an arcade or movie or bowling alley. So pick a property you love for whatever reason - a 2 yo will be fine.

Do you want to be on the strip or not? Want a kitchen - that may be a feature nice to have with a 2yo so consider Sig. Want a large room such as palazzo/venetian?
