Tropicana Express - questions?

We are planning to go to Laughlin at the end of March. When my wife called the Belle to upgrade from our ';free'; room to a river view, they wanted $25/day instead of the previously $10/day upgrade fee. Decided it was time to try someplace else. So we%26#39;re going to stay at the Tropicana Express based on recommendations in this forum.

(1) When I read the description about the tower rooms, it sounds like all the rooms have a pillow-top Sealy mattress. But when I go to the on-line reservations, it seems that only the Signature rooms do (vs Classic and Resort). Which rooms have the pillow-top? Which room do you prefer?

(2) What are the pros and cons of the 2 towers, casino and promenade?

(3) Truth be known, what I enjoy the most about Las Vegas are the non-buffet eating places. What are your choices for Italian? Prime rib? Steak? We%26#39;ll have a car so driving to Bullhead is not a big deal.

Thanks.

Tropicana Express - questions?

My Husband and I just got back from staying at the Tropicana. I will say that it is a lot nicer than some of the other hotels. We have not stayed in the Casino tower, just the Promenade tower but it is a nice room. We joined the players club last year when we went and we receive special deals in our email so we got two free nights. When my Husband called to reserve the room he wanted to make sure he got one of the remodled rooms like we had the year before and they told him that not all of the rooms are remodeled but if he asked for a room above the 6th floor then it should be fine. I am not sure but I believe that all of the rooms in the Casino tower are remodeled. But don%26#39;t take my word on it. I will say that although they are pillowtop mattresses and if you get a king bed it comes with 6 pillows... this last visit the pillowtop was like sleeping on a wooden crate. I have no idea why it was so hard and uncomfortable but it was for me. My Husband was fine. If you enjoy a firmer mattress then it will probably not bother you. Last June it didn%26#39;t seem to bother me so i%26#39;m not sure what was different this time.

They do have what looks like a nice Italian place inside the casino and a nice Steakhouse place but we have not eaten there. They seem a little pricey to me. They do have menus and prices listed outside of the restaurants so you can look before you go in so that is helpful.
