Hilton on Strip: Marketing Truth? timeshare & hotel location

We have not yet taken our trip to this hotel, but I already am questioning two things I was told about the property. First, we were told specifically this property was located by the Wynn. The Wynn is a mile away. I just felt they were not up front with the fact that this hotel is not close to anything. Secondly, I was told the timeshare presentation was 45 minutes long. We received our confirmation today and it stated the presentation was 2 hours. Could anyone weigh in on how long this truly is?

Hilton on Strip: Marketing Truth? timeshare %26amp; hotel location

1) The location of the hotel is NORTH of Circus Circus but before the Stratosphere. It%26#39;s not really close to anything except Circus Circus

We have a timeshare and can trade it out for Polo Towers (by MGM Grand) or Hilton Grand Vacations (the one you%26#39;re mentioning) - we%26#39;ve always picked Polo for the location.

2) 45 minutes? No, it%26#39;ll be longer than that. They%26#39;ll sit you down, explain to you how timeshares work. Show you their book of ALL the timeshares they have all over the world and how great it is to own a timeshare. Then they%26#39;ll take you on a tour of the property. Then they%26#39;ll come back and try to sell you one. You%26#39;ll say no, they%26#39;ll offer you a better deal and a better deal and a better deal until they%26#39;ll finally say ';OK fine, here%26#39;s your free gifts, have a nice day.';

I find it%26#39;s best to tell them UP FRONT that you don%26#39;t want to buy.

My question is if owning a timeshare was so great then how come so many people are trying to sell theirs? The only reason we have one is because my BF%26#39;s mom gave it to us and it%26#39;s paid off. Has been for years.

HI,

The HGV on the Las Vegas Strip is a really nice property but is at the far end. Closest properties are Circus Circus and Sahara. If you want to catch the Deuce going south on the Strip you have to walk a bit to cross at the traffic light. The northbound Deuce (Stratosphere %26amp; Downtown) has a stop right outside the resort. It%26#39;s a looong walk to Wynn. The Hilton Grand Vacations at the Flamingo is a great property and has a fabulous location right behind the Flamingo (mid-Strip) We stayed there in a 2 bdrm condo in Oct and it was great.

Timeshare salespeople will always under-emphasize the negative and over-emphasize the positive. Prepare to be pressured for a couple hours which will seem like 10. Timeshares work for lots of people otherwise it wouldn%26#39;t be such a big business. But don%26#39;t get pressured into anything you may regret later. If mine sounds like the voice of experience - it is.

I don%26#39;t think the words timeshare and truth could ever possibly be found in the same sentence...

Most salespeople are this way. Car, House, Timeshare, they%26#39;re all crooked.

I personally like the timeshare option because I am a family of 5 and we travel a lot. We just think having bedrooms, kitchens, kidsclubs, outweighs not having these things.

As was said before, it is not for everyone, but my family loves it. We bought all of ours aftermarket, so very discounted prices. I reccommend you do the same if you are interested in buying.

Tug2net.com is a great website to check out before you do anything at all.

Just for info, there are 3 Hilton properties in Vegas. I think they told you this location was close to the Wynn, because it is. 1 mile ain%26#39;t squat in LV, and it is the closest legit resort to the Hilton.

I%26#39;d see if they could fit you in at the Hilton at Flamingo. Much better central location.

As for the time alotted for presentation tell them your setting your watch for 45 min and then leaving, so they better talk fast. I can%26#39;t reitterate it enough, DO NOT BUY.

husker, did you clarify about this?

We have four timeshares and Hilton is our fav. Really, you can%26#39;t call it a hotel even though they sell unused rooms. Those rooms have many owners and it is a timeshare resort no matter how you slice it.

We bought the Hilton property many years ago from Hilton and the other are after market. We find the timeshare a great option for the way we like to travel. We like long trips and plenty of space to get comfy.

If your presentation information is in writing you can hold them to it. When you check in you will get a sheet from the welcome desk with you presentation time and the details. What it says must be honored even if the sales person tries to go long point to your promised time commitment.

Firmly but politely say no if your not interested.

You have a great place to stay but you will need a car, cab, bus, or to walk to do the strip.

If you rent a car be aware that non-owners pay a daily fee to self park there it%26#39;s $8 a day and to valet it%26#39;s $13 a day. Owners park free.

Shrinkgirl, I%26#39;ll do you one better, I have 5. Where are your others at?

Hilton and Wyndham Grand Desert in Las Vegas.

Grand Glade TN,Fairfield/Wyndham. Sedona AZ, Blue Green.

Our Wyndham stuff puts us into VIP status (big whoop) and that isn%26#39;t too important but I like the flexible options of using points instead of fixed weeks. The others are the same but we aren%26#39;t given the extra perks of the VIP thing.

We have little problem using our time, renting it, or giving gifts of vacations to others or charity events. It really works for us and I%26#39;m glad to see it works for others.

Where are yours?

bfhusker,

Sorry about the brief hijacking of your thread.

:-%26gt;

Don%26#39;t worry about hijacking the thread, I%26#39;m a notorious threadkiller! lol

All of ours are in Vegas, but we exchange a lot.

In actuality, we only have 4 right now b/c the Planet Hollywood Towers hasn%26#39;t opened yet. So, we have PH Towers, Marriott Grand Chateau, Polo Towers, Jockey Club and Cancun Resort. WE use the PT for the exchanges.

We did exchange to the Worldmark Oceanside Harbor for Spring Break. My kids love Legoland, so we are doing a Legoland blowout this year, 5 days worth. Should be fun.

I%26#39;m going to have to pm you for more details about some of your LV properties. I haven%26#39;t seen the PH stuff yet.
