Grand Canyon Tour question(s)

We are going to be there this weekend, and I%26#39;ve done extensive research on this topic. But I still have a few questions for my TA experts!

We decided we%26#39;d like to do the fixed-wing flight tour from Las Vegas to the south rim. It looks like the most reliable companies are Papillion and Scenic Air. Searching all the posts on TA, there don%26#39;t seem to be any current coupons for these companies (the ones on destinationcoupons.com are no longer there for scenic). We only want the south rim, not the west, b/c of all the great advice we read here, and we%26#39;d prefer not to do that amazingly long bus tour.

The best price I was able to find was the

Grand Canyon South Rim Air %26amp; Ground Deluxe Tour w/ Vision Holidays on detinationcoupons.com for $199 per person. Since we are on a tight budget, is that the best we can do?

Are there any good deals or coupons available for a south rim air tour from Vegas for this coming weekend?

Thanks in advance!

Did you checked papillon%26#39;s website? (www.papillon.com) their prices are very good online. I%26#39;d check there before booking Vision. Papillon owns Scenic Air, btw.

Yes, we checked Papillon%26#39;s website and even joined to see if we can get a discount code (no luck). Next question: since it looks like the air tours to the south rim are out of our price range, what do you guys think about the long (12+ hours) bus tours to the south rim?? We have the time, but would%26#39;ve preferred not to lost the entire day. But since it%26#39;s the best option for our money, does anyone have a recommendtion for a tour company for this?

hmmm....did u try and subscribe to the newsletter? It worked for me a couple weeks ago and I received an additional 10% off when the code was emailed to me in the first newsletter.

That newsletter idea is a good one. Well, for South Rim ground bus/van tours I would look up these companies: Grand Adventures, Adventure Photo Tours, SweeTours and the booking agency www.grandcanyontourcompany.com

Papillion code for 10% off is: WMPA

I see in another post that you are renting a car...... why not just drive yourself and be in control of your schedule? Visit the GCNP website www.nps.gov/grca ahead of time to get a map of the park, and learn about the various viewpoints. Then choose what YOU like to do at your own pace. You can%26#39;t see it all, but you can get a taste. And good for you for planning to visit the REAL Grand Canyon, ant the National Park South Rim.

Papillon, Scenic, and Grand Canyon Air are affiliated. I booked with Scenic, received e-mail confirmation from Papillon and the logo on the plane was Grand Canyon Air.

Anyway, I booked via phone (Deluxe to South Rim) in order to select a specific departure time (rather than being randomly assigned) hoping to return at sunset, which we did - and it was magnificent!

Before booking, I found many ';discount'; offers, but prices with those discounts were actually the same or higher than the regular prices on the website(s). And, upon arriving in Las Vegas, there were discount coupons all over the place, but, again, prices after discount were the same or higher than the ';regular'; price I paid.

Have you checked availability for this coming weekend?

Things are very slow in Las Vegas this year, so all depending, you may be able to negotiate a lower price by phoning.

Frankly, I wouldn%26#39;t quibble over saving a few bucks. This was one of the finest tours we%26#39;ve ever taken. Well managed, nicely paced and efficient, and we had a really amusing guide who was also exceptionally informative. To our surprise, the food at the buffet lunch was quite excellent!
