Room Upgrades

any tips on room upgrades atall? we are going to vegas from the UK for my girlfriends 21st birthday. we went last year but we couldnt drink, but this year we will be 21!!

thought it would be a bit more special if we could get a nicer room.

dont bash us - we are staying at the stratosphere (we know the reviews are mixed on this site) but any ideas on room upgrades?

theres a lot of talk from people on here that say there room was upgraded for free....any tricks?

any helps appreciated.

Room Upgrades

Dont know if its of any help, but I emailed the hotel we`re stayin and explained it was for our honeymoon and if poss could they allocate us a room with a view of the strip and basically was told just to ask when we arrived there.

Room Upgrades

when are you going? maybe it depends on the time of year/how busy they are etc too....?

Goin in just over a months time, i might turn up and already have a view of the strip guess its just the luck of the draw

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ve seen lots of posts where poeple talk about the $20 trick, whereby you hand the person at the reservations desk a $20 with your cc.

for some it works for some it doesn%26#39;t. Depends on a lot of things from, time of year, how busy they are, the mood of the person checking you in, how friendly you are, length of stay.

For some people, just asking is enough to get an upgrade. However, for the most part, if getting an upgrade is important to you, its recommended that you book and pay for the room you want before you go. Don%26#39;t wait until you get there to try and blagg a free upgrade only to be disappointed with what you get. Book and pay for it now and then you know you%26#39;re guaranteed the room you want.

Another thing to consider: Know what you want. In other words, what is an ';upgrade'; to you? Are you looking for a suite? If so, knowing the name or type of suite at a particular property avoids confusion.

Or would you consider a room with a better view an %26#39;upgrade%26#39;?

Bottom line, as has already been noted: If an upgraded room is important to you, book it in advance and pay for it to avoid dissapointment.

so people have just handed $20 with the credit card....what if they dont give it to you, do they keep the $20?

an upgrade isnt important....it would just be nice to be able to get one if possible thats all.

anyone know about the different room types at the strat?

thanks!!!!

dont hate me....

*bump*

I%26#39;ve never stayed at the Strat but here%26#39;s the link to their webpage showing the various accommodations:

I would personally forget about any sort of ';tricks';. Just use your English charm and ask politely. A lot will come down to availability on the day and over the course of your stay. If you%26#39;re avoiding the weekend (when Vegas hotels are closer to full occupancy) you%26#39;ve a better chance of getting some sort of upgrade.

As a 21st birthday is involved you could try calling the Strat to let them know. It won%26#39;t necessarily help as thousands of people are celebrating weddings, anniversaries and birthdays in Vegas at any given time, but it certainly won%26#39;t do your chances any harm.

Ask for a view of the ghetto. Oh wait, all Strat rooms provide this.

very funny :-/
